I sent a set of 17" wheels with tyres recently, it cost me £43 for next day delivery iirc. This was with a local courier who is part of the APC network.

To pack them I wrapped the spokes in cardboard and bubble wrap, then wrapped each wheel and tyre in black bin bags before securing the lot with parcel tape. I used 2 whole rolls of tape on the 4 wheels and wouldn't have fancied being the poor bloke who had to unwrap them at least they arrived with no extra marks though.

Sent some 17's with tyre to Scotland from Bucks, and they were about £45 for next day delivery (+ £5 because it was Scotland?!?!?!?!?)
