I want to loose the standard twin pipe on my MY00 and am considering either 3.5 inch Magnex from Graham Goode or a Scoobysport or Afterburner.

All look the business so from that perspective Im not too bothered which. However noise and price are an issue with me.

I want something louder than the standard one but not too that it would do my head in to and from work.

Is the Magnex box louder than the standard but not as loud as SS and AB or is it about the same?

The Magnex box is over £100 cheaper than the other two so of course thats a big difference.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

By the way, I only intend buying a Back box no other parts to the exhaust system,

after burner louder than ss
a quieter after burner is the stealth
your best bet is to get down to a local meet and hear a couple in action
then buy a blitz

 

I have a 6" x 4" Magnex on mine....sounds the bizz! Not too load but a nice rumble.

Magnex 6x4 with resonated centre is a very nice sensible volume level, arguably no louder than keeping the centre cat and will still pass MOTs and be less restrictive. I am only selling it because I was stuck in the high 300s BHP and couldn't get over 400 BHP. Oddly enough I have both for sale (private not commercial)

I've got a Magnex/JW Racing slash cut back box and it's spot on. Good level of sound out of the car but quiet inside. Highly recommended.

 

I've recently put a magnex back box and silenced middle section on my MY99 turbo - it is a lot louder than OE - my wife complains on long trips, and gets embaressed when she drives it ! It certainly sounds like you are going faster, and looks great. I let my insurance Co in on it, now I have to take it to my local Sub dealer so they can confirm I've fitted it correctly and it is not unroadworthy !!
