Starting to worry a little bit, I dont have a knocklink yet, and was wondering should I get one of these boost valves to up fuel pressure, not sure if I've got to much breathing and not enough juice?

UK MY97
K+N induction
Full 3" decat
Soon to have sti4 intercooler.

Someone will help me I just know they, will cos' your alright you lot..

i have heard of many problems with the fse boost valve on scoobys,it was designed for pug 205 gti's to help with fueling probs.
do a search on here.

A fuel pressure regulator (boost valve) from FSE is worth while when uprating your fuel pump which should be done when using a lot of boost.

I have recently fitted a hybrid turbo and uprated fuel pump with the FSE fuel pressure regulator and now get even better MPG than before when using the same driving style.

My injector duty cycle is only at 86% at full boost! No way could this have be obatined without the fuel pressure regulator. Others have tried and on the same spec car with the exact same turbo and were running IDC's in the wrong side of the mid 90%'s.

With your spec i do not tink you would need one. Consider an uprated fuel pump when you up your boost then maybe go for the fuel pressure regulator.

As said above, talk to Mark and he will give you the facts not the fiction.

 

fse regs do get some bad press. as with any other adjustable reg on the market, if they are not set up properly it can be a disaster waiting to happen. most of the fse stories I have heard of are to do with the lock nut slackening off, allowing the reg to adjust, usually ending up in lean running.

I am not saying they are cr4p though, in fact I am about to fit one along with a fse pump but I have been putting this off, until the SPA fuel pressure gauge I have is fitted, to keep an eye on it.

out of interest what fuel pressure,turbo,injectors and boost are you running with only 86%idc?

Fuel pressure set to 3.2bar @ idle, MD304 turbo, 440cc injectors, 1.3 bar boost

Additional - UK MY00, Link, FSE fuel pressure regulator, Walbro fuel pump, HKS Hiper, HKS intake, Scoobymania twin dump DP, standard headers + I/C.

1.0 bar at just under 3400rpm. (I want to get a Magnex up-pipe and ported headers to get that a little bit lower, 43mm diameter )

Bob was impressed too, especially cause its a phase II engine that usually requires more fuel than the phase I engines for some the same power for reason, to do with the ignition timing I believe but with a Link it helps a lot.

Nick, If you do decide to get one, I've got one which I originally brought for a calibra but never got round to fitting. If it fits your quite welcome to it for a small fee +P&P.
