Almost all induction kits remove this.

Take a look in the MRT based Tuning Book available from Scoobymania. It takes you through all this lot. I have done it on my STiV3, awkward job, crude but simple and I have noticed not a blind bit of difference! TSL talk about cutting some large holes in the panel filter box, obviously on the 'outside world' side of the filter to get more air in. I think Subaru would have given enough air to their engines as standard?
Note! If you do the resonator mod do NOT drive through a river/ford/ or a bloody deep puddle as the engine will get all the water straight at the filter, gulp!
