Ok.....so this morning I checked my brake fluid and it has all gone! Bizarre as there was plenty last month, but nevermind, maybe there is a leak. That isn't my worry. My worry is "How am I going to get home with next to no brake fluid?"

There is a halfords in town. Can I simply pop in and buy a bottle of brake fluid, or is there something more I need to know?

 

If your fluid has gone it's probably the pads are worn down , the further the pistons come out the fluid drops , check them first , if they are worn do not fill the reservoir back up otherwise when you push the pistons back in to fit the new pads the brake fluid will overflow and go all over your servo and bodyshell and may take the paint off , Get your pads checked asap , Cheers Ian

on the other hand for gods sake dont drive it with the fluid below the minimum mark. you should be able to get suitable fluid from halfords, just put enough in to get it moving safely to your house / a garage.

before you move look round the wheels in case youcan see a leak, if you can then fill resevoir higher. i'd have thought you could probably do a quick check on your pads throught the wheels which shuld give you an idea on wear.

 

also i'd have thought a scoobie would have alow fluid light so how come it hasn't come on?

try and get in habit of checking fluid verytime you check engine oil / water (assuming you check those regularly)

 

Brake fail light keeps coming on due to an ABS sensor failing.
Hence me not realising the fluid is down. Have been checking it monthly. Just dissapeared recently.

Pads are less than 2000miles old. If they are gone then I REALLY need to change my driving style!
