Just purchased a Firestorm backbox (well cheque is in the mail) and wanted to know if anyone has such a style back box whilst running lowered suspension? Do you have any probs with catching etc?

I just purchased a nice blue WRX - came with lowered suspension (really low) looks perfect, the springs are HKS - but not sure which version so not sure of exactly how much the car is lowered by...and also it's got an APEX zorst on it and kink in the middle does look really really low. However...the decent speed bumps (where there's a ramp then a horizontal bit before it ramps down again) are fine - never caught the zorst or the toe loop (lowest bit at front of car)....but on some speed bumps where it's just a a hump with no horizontal flat section, it can catch. But they have to be higher than usual for this to happen. In which case you have to travel over at an angle so the rear wheel rises on the hump before the zorst catches. I've only had it catch once actually, where the speed bump was on a hill in this farm.

Other than that the bumps you get which are not full width (just pass under the centre of car just catching the wheels) don't touch the zorst either..

hope this helps

cheers
Alex

my wrx is on -45mm springs with hks hiper, no probs with grounding out for me, if you've had a cossie with a ss exhaust you'll know the real meaning of no ground clearance

I wouldn't even worry about it mate it's not an issue

Thanx again

well when I had my my97 uk turbo it was lowered 40mm. the first exhaust system I had was a mongoose and it always caught speed bumps near where I stay but when I changed to the blitz nur spec
it missed the speed bumps.

Jesus! How low do you lot run? My STI V3 on AVO struts are down by 30mm on the STI settings and this seems LOW. Anyway, no clearence issues with a full Magnex system.

Red face

I managed to get hooked on a supersized wheel stopper once Had to jack the car up, and slide a ramp under to make my escape The wife was "I told you so"-ing me for ages after that

But that is in Tokyo - hopefully you don't have any like that in the UK.
