I'm trying to track down an NEC LCD1760NX-BK (black) 17" TFT screen, but I'm having difficulty finding anyone who has them in stock.

Can anyone recommend some sites I can buy from in the UK ?

Tried dabs, overclockers, microwarehouse, scan

Try Delta (scroll down to NEC section).

They've got it listed, but not sure if they actually have it in stock.

Ingram show 3 in stock. Delta are charging £4 above Ingram . This is why we don't bother selling commodity PC stuff.

Yes it was the NEC 1760NX. I had 2 in the space of a week, but no dead pixels. The problem was that a huge bright spot was located at the bottom of the screen. This distorted colours very badly, even with brightness turned right down. For instance the Scoobynet orange would be a dark(ish) orange at the top of the screen but a bright washed out orange at the bottom. I was running it at the native 1280 x 1024 from a 9700pro and DVI

I came across the anandtech review of the hitachi which uses the same panel and they report the same problem. So went for a Dell 2000FP in the end, which I'm waiting for at the moment.

I have just ordered a 1760NX in black from Monitors-online.co.uk (thx jinxy)as being a gamer, I need the quick response times.

Very nice bunch on the phone. Got the screen, 1.8 metre DVI lead and delivery all in for £433.81.

Pretty happy with that price

Hopefully I can cope with the 1 bug Jinxy has noted.

Cheers,

Nick

If you can live with the dodgy colours at the bottom of the screen or in Nicks case, play lots of games where the colours seem to be no-where near as badly effected then I can highly recommend the monitor.

And as Nick says delta are very very helpful people.

Nick, I've ended up getting one from dabs.com for £410.07 - trouble is, it'll take a day or so to come into stock.

Thought I'd order the new logitech optical desktop to go with it, although I'm cheesed off they don't sell the new MX700 optical mouse with it (it has a recharger you slip the mouse into during the night)

Oh, I got a Plextor combo DVD / CD-RW unit too (cuts down on clutter inside my case)

The MX700 is the daddy of optical mice, no contest.

Yep, no doubt the MX700 is one sexy mouse. I wanted a nice matching keyboard for it, but Logitech don't do one!

I've bought the Logitech Optical Cordless Dekstop which has a funky keyboard, but a battery-hungry mouse. I figure I'll test the mouse for a month and if its eating batteries I'll get an MX700.

Wouldn't touch the microsoft stuff - hate how BIG their mouse is and the blue tooth combo sucks.

Thanks Mr Cookie, but as mentioned the MX700 is indeed quite special.

It works at a higher frequency than its predecessors and offers razor sharp reponse times compared to normal cordless mice.

It also looks real cool and uses rechargable batteries
