raplacing it with electric pump

Anyone know were can I get such a electric pump, pics, price, etc ?????

I will be visiting a Peugeot dealer to see which model (suspect the new 307 or 607) uses this electric PS pump.

the pugeot 106 gti also uses a electric power steering pump, as does the vauxhall corsa..

a nissan van.. think its the cabstar.. also has a powersteering pump mounted on the back of the alternator.

went to the Peugeot dealer the 106 electric pump looks nice but it was too expensive ..... will have to keep on looking.

 

One car, and I think it's the aforementioned corsa, has electric power steering. But it does not have an electric pump or a conventional hydraulic actuated rack. Instead it has direct electric assistance, there's some kind of electric motor built into the steering column.

There's some rally guy down in south wales fitting these racks into rally cars, I've seen a 16V KAD engined mini and a 16V astra engined mkII escort fitted with one. Works extremely well by all accounts.

Could you use one of these instead?

 

that would involve a lot more of work, and I am looking at an easier option, that is why I opted for a electric pump.

 

I am going to remove today the OE PS pump. Anyone know if I can use the car without power steering without damaging the steering rack ? ..... or do I have to completely drain the PS liquid ?

Just drain the fluid. You will just love the new direct steering feel Power steering is just for girlies and IT types

Yeah it would be 1410kg car, and if Paulo has the same as me (judging by the weight he does) he also has a much slower steering rack than you wussy impreza types ( ) so an armful of lock with no power steering requires biceps like Mr.Schwarzenegger.

 

However, impreza wusses would require more strength to apply the same armful of lock as they have to work against a higher gearing ratio... you legacy types merely need to work on speed... we impreza wusses would need more strength.

 

D'OH....of course, you have less turns lock-to-lock......worst thing about the legacy.
