Silicon inlet pipes: worth it?
Does a silicon filter to turbo pipe realy make any difference to a stock Scooby pipe? I have a stock STi V3 with full Magnex turbo back, and think I should also get it to breath better on the inlet side. I seem to remember some saying that the Lateral Performance one is much better than a Samco. Is it all bulls*it, prety colours or functional?

It can make a huge difference to the level of boost you can hold - so it is likely to be a big block to the inlet....
....I am not sure that Lateral supply one - you can try them - but I sure that Scoobymania or Jap Innovations may be worth a call too.

?eh?
The standard inlet pipe is a pretty nasty bit of kit, but it's maximum airflow I think only becomes an issue at, like, well, biggish airflows. Certainly makes no difference if playing with the diddy TD04 & similar size turbos! Not sure what an STi3 has but I thought it was VF23ish size tops, (VF22? - which as a guess would be almost but not quite large enough to actually 'fill' the standard unit?).
But I don't have any figures as the inlet pipe seems to typically be changed with too many other bits so gets lost amongst those figures

Wow, thanks for all the comments. I am going to Power Eng tomorrow to have an EcuTec fitted by the fabled Mervyn. This will map the engine which suffers from massive overboost/fuel cut at 4500rpm. I was just thinking with the remap I might get a bit more out of the engine by fitting an inlet pipe. The car is used for serious hill climbing so the engine MUST be drivable and not peaky at all, so torque is more important to me.
Any other thoughts/suggestions are most welcome from you all.
