Is my clutch on its way out?
I have a MY99 STI Type R done 48K Miles.
The clutch peddle seems to come up off the floor a fair way before it bites. Bob Rawle/Branko was re-mapping my car a few months ago and both commented on this and said it comes up allot more than it should.
Some times when changing gear, mainly during 1st-2nd, it gets a bit notchy when changing. It doesn't crunch or won’t go in gear just feels notchy and also when I am giving it a little bit I some times get a thud noise as I change?!?!?
So, is this a symptom of my clutch dying? Is there any thing that can be adjusted to make the pedal feel any better?
If I am going to be looking at new clutches in the near future are there any good ones that you guys can recommend? If any one can give me some idea what it would cost that would be great too!
My car is running 319Bhp so don’t really wanna get another standard clutch. Will I also need a release bearing as I have read people mentioning these to when changing clutches?
Any info/advice would be much appreciated.
