Been relibly informed by my local dealer that in the UK my car would go on the forecourt at around 11,959. My trade-in therefore would is sh1te

That means that from new £21,500 I've lost around £3,300 per year on my car.

I found this out when, after test driving the 03 WRX I wanted to do a deal for a 5 door. Because of the rapid changes in models plus the deep discount on the (oh so ugly 02) the 2nd hand prices of the 00 are sh@gged.

Therefore I won't be giving Subaru my new business because:
1. I can't afford to
2. They've really p1ssed me off

I'm not going to stick 8 grand into a new Scoobie on top of the 5k loan o/s on my current one only to see the second hand value fall through the floor.

I'll save my pennies and get an R32 or second hand S4 Avant

Let's be honest the 03 isn't that good looking anyway.

Yours pee'd off to the back teeth

Thumbs up

Get either, and then when STi8's and a few other Scoobs are leaving you for dead, you can cheer yourself up with how much your "squared off Beetle" or "upmarket Volky" is still worth :

its a bad time on the second hand car market for all makes of car isn't it?

Anyone know what the % is that you would expect to loose over 3 yrs? I thought it was 50-60%?

Alcazar - you're not wrong

At least the Audi's and Golf's stay in production longer than it takes me to fill up the petrol tank on my scoobie (with the incessant clicking off of the handle - and yes I know the rotate it clockwise rule).

However if I really save my pennies then a second hand RS4 would be in the 'offing - different story then

Iin addition, 'cos the Scoobies are so cheap now they're becoming real Kev cars and their reputation is falling (IMO).

Besides - with car's like the RX8 on the horizon the Scoobies starting to look dated

its all down to cheap imports and uk dealer discounts theve got to get their money back from somewhere, on the bright side is if you decide to import as well you can get the new impreza from europe for about £16k which wont seem as bad when your car depreciates
