Question

I phoned my insurance company looking for a quote on a P1. The quote was quite reasonable, but they told me the P1 is classed as an import. Are they correct?

Question

Was the P1 a type approved model or did it come under the normal UK turbo type approval or were they SVA-ed ?.

Its a bit like the EVOs they were ALL imports technically as they werent type approved and brought in via SVA route, same as the Uk Skylines.

Yes the P1 was sold as a UK car (only in the UK) but could be classed as an import if they arent European type approved.

Just edited to say the 22B type Uk wasnt type approved and all of them were SVA-ed thats why a low number (19 ??) came in due to the restriction of SVA-ed cars allowed per year (good old days of import quotas)

The P1 had full European Whole Vehicle Type Approval under the supercar rules that allowed for an extra one decibel during testing.
