Question

my MY02 WRX Prodrive is said to have a speed limiter - 240 Km/h, around 150 mph. How does it work? Can it be removed?

Thanks

It is a soft boost cut, it can be removed by remapping the ECU or using a boost controller.

However, Subarus of all ages are quite well known for blowing up and losing a big end bearing at sustained high speed.
