Question

I`ve just changed my rearbox from a standard box I find the overall noise inside excessive do all 5door cars suffer this way ?
Or is there anything that can be done ?
Is the 5door longer overall?
So is the tail pipe not long enough? (I`m guessing !)
Wellcome your replies!
GERRY

Yep, I'm fast approaching the bleeding ear stage... Wagons, they all do that sir.

You need to sound proof it. Which is my next plan. Probably either use brown bread stuff or get a kit from bjacoustics.

Yup it's just wagons, due to the open boot, I think. My Apexi was pretty loud but the Nur Spec R is a LOT louder, it's ok with the bung in, but withou, ooh, nice in noisy.

I fitted some sound insulation across the boot floor ... made a big difference, Wagons are very much louder than the saloons unfortunately.

Yep found the same problem on my wagon. Went through 3 different boxes and found the Sebring to be the best compromise. It sounds just right and looks good too, and you can get them in SS or MS and with single or twin tails in SS. Mines got the twin 2.5" tails and is built like a tank.

This brings me to a question for you guys:

I already have the decat centre and I am thinking of going for the decat downpipe...but will this make things too loud again in the cabin or will I just hear more of the turbo ...which is nice

Denis

I don't have these problems. Got a dog guard fitted in my wagon and it causes that many squeaks & rattles I can't hear the backbox.

Stratman, my wagon had a dp fitted a week or so ago, and I noticed a slightly louder grumble on the road, but most noticeable is the turbo spool up noise from both within and outside the car.

Cool

My turbo spool`s the same (that`s GREAT! )My down pipe`s not so noisy as I`ve tried it with ScoobySport down pipe and centre pipe and standard rear box, thats just like a standard car sound. It`s only with a performance rearbox it gets really noisy inside,so I`m trying some different boxes + sound proofing.
