When the PPP was being done to my STi UK, I called the insurance company (Direct Line) to advise them and increase cover accordingly.

I expected them to know about PPP and to have a PPP'd STi UK as a discrete car on their system ... but no.

Instead, they asked me to describe the modification - which I did as performance exhaust and new ECU.

They asked me what the power increase was as a percentage. I stated it was an estimated 15% *

* ((300-262)/262)x100

My new certificate has arrived and it states only performance exhaust with power increase of 11 - 20%.

Seems ok but I always have that nagging feeling with insurance companies.

Thoughts ?

It's probably OK. Many insurance companies have different bands for power increases. As long as you have informed them about it (and how much it cost), then you'll be fine

Question

Out of interest, how much more did it cost to add PPP?

Direct Line has the best quote so far for my STi8 and PPP could be on the cards.

Thanks

Phil

My car is on a fleet policy so there was no increase in premium however they increased my excess to £750

They did demand the prodrive certificate for proof of installation.

Best thing that happened to the car IMO

All I had to do was inform them in writing that I had had my WRX PPP'd and that was that. No increase in premium

That was CIS Insurance

Norwich Union, did not increase my policy as after a wee bit of discussion they regard PPP as an option for the car from the manufacturer.
