i believe the 300 zx uses the same system, ie a little turbo to spool the larger one up.... I had an rx7 and to be honest it aint all that, most people used to do single turbo conversions as the sequentials were dangerous and didnt perform too well. Read a lot of horror stories about the 2nd turbo kickinh in part way round corners which resulted in spins etc

interesting huh - seemed like a good idea having a smaller turbo spining up a bigger one the size of a 747 turbine LOL.. but yet to be perfected as you mentioned..

I think quite a few have this - the first was a Porsche (forgot the model...), a couple of others being the Supra, and I thought one of the Legacys as well
But I'm probably wrong

just remember that they little turbo becomes a large restriction once the larger of the 2 is spooled therefore limiting power output.

The Legacy twin-turbos use a sequential setup. Primary turbo only up to about 4000rpm, then both turbos together. Very difficult to tune.

The 300zx TT has the turbo's (both garret T25s i think) in parallel (ie one turbo per bank of the V6 feeding 2 seperate intercoolers). I think the skyline GTR runs them sequentially though.

Supra MKIV has the Sequential set-up.

300ZX is not.

Skylines like Soarers are Parallel, Sequential is not good, the 2 Supra owners I know well have ditched the Seq. and gone Par. and their cars are all the better for it.

It is a 'dead-end' in all honesty.

It has damaged both cars and drivers when the thoughtless/unwary have driven a Seq. car.
