Help with Brakes

I am currently trying to change the front brake pads on my MY 95 UK
with 2 pots. To remove the caliper do both top and bottom bolts need to come out ( top has funny cap thing where bolt should be) or does the caliper just pivot up with the bottom one removed?
Please help or i will have to walk to get Xmas prezzies !!
