Quickshift Gearbox questions
Would I be right in saying that the quickshift gearbox in my STi-5 RA, is whats otherwise known as a 'straight cut' gearbox?
Which would explain its 'notchy' feel?
I also get quite a lot of transmission whine when accelerating in 2nd gear, and when depressing the clutch going up from 2nd to 3rd, the revs rise quite a bit on their own which makes the gear change a little messy.
Only seems to do this in second though.
Any ideas...?
Cheers

as far as I'm aware the 'quickshift' only relates to the mechanism that changes the gears, it could be a straight cut box, but they're normally noisy in all gears, it could just be knackered!
The quickshift mechanism can also make it feel notchy, revs rising sounds like clutch slipping, so you could have a right old mees on your hands.
But on the brighter side, it might be a performance box, with an uprated clutch that you just can't get the hang of.
Doesn't really help, but hey, it made me feel better!

Hmmm, thanks Ron.
Could be just me I suppose, quite likely actually!
Just strange that it only seems to do it after 2nd gear going upto 3rd...
Ive got a 12 month warranty on the car anyway, so I think I'll leave it for a bit and see if it improves or worsens.
Cheers
