A good Samaritan was attacked when he went to the aid of a man he found lying in the road.

An accomplice, who flagged down the motorist, set about him with a bladed weapon and attempted to steal his car.

The victim managed to escape and was treated in hospital but was not seriously injured.

Police described the incident as "very frightening".

Kidderminster police spokeswoman Caroline Schubert said the victim was driving along Lea Lane, between Cookley and Wolverley, at 3pm yesterday when he saw a man lying in the road and was flagged down by a second man.

She said he stopped, believing the man in the road was ill or injured.

He was then attacked by the second man, who attempted to steal his Renault Clio.

The victim was cut by some sort of bladed instrument and sustained minor injuries to his arms and legs. However he managed to get back into his car and drive away.

He went to Hardwick's Landscape Centre in Bewdley Road, Wolverley, to raise the alarm.

The attacker was white and wore a navy blue hooded top. He had long dark hair, of stocky build and had a Birmingham accent.

Detective Inspector Adrian Todd said: "It was a very frightening incident for the man.

We are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact Kidderminster police on 01562 820888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

I must stop posting threads like this otherwise none of us will drive anywhere ever again.

Plus side is making everyone aware of what is going on in the "real" world.

Stop the planet I want to get off.......................

Something similar happened a few weeks ago - did you catch Midlands Today report of a chap having is DB7 stolen the same way?

A DB7 you can "understand" them wanting, though...a Renault CLIO on the other hand....

Depends on the reasons for stealing it. Plus, a dodgy Clio is going to find more buyers than a dodgy DB7.
