Anyone know what a tumbler valve is on a MY01 WRX. Engine warning light appeared then this was diagnosed.

 

It is an emmisions thing that was put in for that model year. It consists of a valve that gets pushed into the intake airflow at low RPMs to help with fuel mixing and lower emmisions. The error message usually occurs when the selanoid that controls the valve gets stuck.

PS: if you take it out you could get better top end power.

However Pipercross are developing an airfilter which is being fitted on my car next week just gotta decide on the exhaust.

The car has gone back to Subaru under warranty for a fix get it back Wednesday.
