Even though I work for a tier one hardware manufacturer and consult on stratergy I have little idea of the consumer/home PC market place, therefore I'm lloking for thoughts on what PC to get.

Currently I have a P3/550, 384MB, 60GB, Kyro II 64MB video, WinXP based machine used mainly for surfing and playing quake style games, however it's running out of power for the latest games.

I'm currently looking at four options:

1. Build new PC. Something like AMD 2100+, 512MB etc
2. Buy an EVO D510 SFF
3. Buy one of the small Shuttle PC's - any one with experience of these?
4. Pack in the PC games thing buy a Mac and live with my PS2 for games

Another factor to consider is that the Mrs likes/wants a small PC that looks nice

Any thoughts or comments are greatly recieved.

Phil

I'm going for the shuttle option - but am holding off until they release the Athlon version with an AGP slot.

If you are happy with the Intel option, then go with that .

The Shuttle is now available with an AGP Slot and DDR support using an SIS Chipset on the P4 platform. Model of choice for a small and 'attractive' PC.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...ystems_43.html and find the XPC SS51G.

The 510 SFF does have an AGP slot so you can upgrade to a decent gaming card.

Thanks Chris, just about to place an order with Overclockers for the following:

Shuttle SS51, P4/2.53, DVD-R/CD-RW, 512MB, Asus 4600 video card.

As the video card has a DVI port for connection to a digital TFT do you have any recomendations on screens? I was looking at a 15" LG pannel but am not really up to speed on what's good. Looking at a budget of around the £500 mark and would prefer a 17" pannel.
