Two possible solutions:

1) Put a potato up the tailpipe (good in the short term for noise, not good for the motor) ;-)

2) Get some soft foam earplugs from a motorbike shop, these really do cut down noise, boominess etc

Funny that. The day I picked my car up from Bristol; by the time I got home a few hours later, I had headache and felt sick. I put it down to the road noise. i.e far too loud.

I used to drive an Audi. I will do again

From personal experience get the whole exhaust system checked out NOW. The symptoms you have described are classic of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

Don't mess about or the next long run you'll find yourself unconsious at the wheel.

You've got to see the funny side of this??
Everyone wants a big exhaust system for the sound as well as performance or we'd all be driving standard evo6/7s -theoretically anyway! My car's a rude bwoy motor -the combination of wastegate/exhaust/induction is enough to pi$$ off any passenger but it's part of the price of the package?!
Keep the journey's short n sharp!

I wouldn't bet that it's the noise - get your full exhast tested NOW!

I've had exhaust in the cabin before - the effects really creep up on you, especially the Carbon Monoxide - odourless.

This has happened plenty of times before.
Get it checked!!!!

Cool

thats the point shunty.....pulling uphill in third at 3-4krpm and the ProDrive box kicks a wicked boom and I've been known to set a few alarms and scare the old dears coming home from afternoon tea.

I'll take the CarbMox thing seriously and get it checked...I'll update when its done.

You can pick up CO sensors from Wilkos for a couple of quid. If it turns black(ish) get then you have a big problem! Might be the cheapest first step before a garage goes over your car with a fine tooth comb and charges you heaps!!

Jason,
I haven't noticed the same problem with my 300, although I havent been on many long journeys yet.
I dont find the exhaust noise intrusive, especially with the (crap) stereo on!
Sounds like a good idea to get it checked out though.

Does sound like you might have a problem. I've driven to Newquay and back in mine. 2 other people in the car as well and I didn't have any problems. Infact the cabin noise was excellent.
