Now that the amount of darkness is the day is increasing, I'm looking to replace the fog lights with a set of driving lights.

There are quire a few to choose from, are any better or worase than others.

The obvious contenders being :

Cibie's from Scoobysport (amongst others)
Subaru's own (From TSL or main dealer)

Be very careful with the Prodrive ones that use Hella 1000FF light units.
They give great light output, and control, but setting them up is a nightmare, and if a bulb goes, you lose all the settings, and have to start again.
The Prodrive PIAA conversion does not AFAIK suffer from these probs.
I've got the Scoobysport HID driving lights and absolutely love 'em!

To further expand on alcazar's comments, the lamps are actually quite easy to set up if you bear in mind that the surface the bracket is mounted to is vertical and is at 90 degrees to the centre line of the car.
As the beam pattern of the lamps have more spread than the distance of the lights from the road then they need to be angled very slightly up from this plane, and as they are also closer together than the spread of the beam pattern, they will need to be angled slightly outwards. This is quite easy to do off the car once you realise what you are trying to achieve.
Once you've got it right then the second set are much easier to the extent that I can do it by eye off the car and get them spot on most times.
