I went to look at a 2.0 non turbo impreza today, and it was making some very strange rattling noises from the top end. I didn't bother looking any further, but it struck me that i don't know what to listen/look for.. so can anyone give me an idea of what I should specifically look for when looking at The non-turbo models?

I had a rattle on my last one, it was ocuring just under 3k revs. Turned out to be the heat shields on the exaust.

Cost to replace was quoted by dealer at 300 quid!!!

Took it to my local garage who just pulled the rattling bit off for free! It was a small part that goes where the 2 halves of the manifold join into one.

Have you tried the subaru website to search for cars? You will find loads, and they come with 12 month warranty.
