Red face

I have just phoned Greenlight to renew my insurance, however I was told that as of yesterday all the insurance brokers that they use have pulled out of the import market!!

I will now be switching to Barclays as they guarantee to beat my quote and did (don't use the online quote though it's pants!!).

A bit of a shame really as Greenlight have been good over the last 2 years I have been with them.

I don't know if this will effect those with existing policies - I doubt it, but if you are up for renewal, I would start looking around sooner rather than later.

Cheers,

Richard

Question

By import do you mean European, Japanese or both?

Japanese I believe (mine is), I can't see a reason not to insure Euros as they are exactly the same car....unless some fiendish manufacturers convinced them to do so...I wonder, hmm conspiracy theory...

I've just been to their site and when trying to get a Quote online the following test is there when you click Japanese Import.

Due to demand our Annual Capacity within this area has been Exhausted.
Our Japanese import schemes are currently being re-negotiated with our Insurers.

I'm currently insured through them and got a good deal, I hope that things get sorted out soon. I found them very useful and recommended them to many friends after wading through the Muppet Minefield of Insurers out there.

The main reason why import insurance is so high is because IM will not supply parts for imports. SO when you get your next quote don't bother complaing to the insurance complany instead complain to IM (Subaru UK).

Barclaycard couldn't beat my quote of £1220 even though they promised they could. I'm currently not happy and shopping around. Shouldn't make promises they can't keep!

Went up £400 this year. When I ordered my turbo originally I was quoted £550.What the hell is going on!!!!!

I was told the same by greenlight. I was only enquiring about it as I aim to get a impreza for next summer now when I turn 25.
Privelege managed to get my quote down to £1543 for a modified WRX STi. That was almost a grand off the nearest quote.
