Question

Anyone know an insurance company that will provide FULLY COMP cover when bringing your import back to the UK?

3rd party is no problem at all.......but no-one seems interested in fully comp unless you start a 12 month policy with them

why not just get the car collected by transporter and delivered to your door or get the dealer to put it on the ferry and collect it from a suitable port.

Presuming you have the CoC, original invoice etc you can register it for when it lands, and put the plates on it, inform your insurance company and drive it home.

To drive it back you can get 14 days comp cover from the dealer in Europe that is still valid in the UK.

UK insurers are not supposed to give road cover on a vehicle until it is registered in the UK. They cracked down on this last year.

Recovery companies will fetch cars for as little as £350.

Thanks guys - have the transporter option sorted (and it's pretty reasonable), but I'm keen to look at all possibilities....

My dealer is happy to organise 3rd party, but says fully comp is not possible except via UK company.....??

Have not looked into the "drop it at the port" option.
