Now done 7000 miles - thought I'd be a bit adventurous.

The other day I let the fuel level drop below 1/4 full.

It was well below the E when the warning light came on.

No problem I thought - having checked the manual - 9 litres left.

However on moderate (yes really) acceleration the car hesistated - fuel starvation?

It was 8 miles to the Optimax shop. On filling up with 56 litres I thought - only 4 were left in the tank and problems? Did I really use 5 litres in 8 miles?

Or is Subaru not very sure when the light comes on?

Anyone else had similar?

Hi Carl
Comming home from Castle Coombe in July my sons STi7 uk the fuel light came on approx. 30 miles from home on the M25 Gentle driving got us home with no problem and no hesitation, although poodling along in the inside lane provoked some confused stares from drivers of "lesser" cars! ("Overtook one of those Subaru things on the motorway the other day - no problem")

I think that if you drive gently then the light doesn't come on at the right level. Maybe the fuel doesn't drop fast enough and the sensor isn't triggered properly.

It's a theory, I'll get my coat.
