Hi
I recently started hearing a rattling noise from the engine bay at about 3000rpm, I guessed a cracked turbo heatsheild but after inspection by a Subaru dealer they said it had rusted so bad that a couple of bolts had fallen off letting it rattle. I can the rust myself at the front next to the manifold.
I asked the dealer to call Subaru UK to try to get it replaced under the 6 year corrosion warrenty but they said no. Should I pursue this further because the car is only 4 years old ? I don't think engine parts should be rusting through and falling off this soon. Has antone else experienced this ?

 

Is the 6yr corrosion just for the bodywork and not engine compartment stuff?

I'd phone a Breakers and ask if they can source you one. Shouldn't be that expensive.
