Police Car & DBM on A65 outside Settle
A DBM Impreza and a Police Impreza in a lay by on A65 outside Settle at 6:15PM Sunday. Hope it was a friendly discussion !
Just taking the long way home after a day of Impreza spotting in the Lakes.

It wasn't me in the scoob but i spotted 2 police imprezas (both with the high level spoilers) a few months ago sitting at a speed trap on the same road... fortunately i wasn't in my scoob... i was rolling along at 35 in a 1.1L 106 at the time.
Chris - I saw the same two yesterday late afternoon, heading north out of Gargrave towards Settle - check out the grill on the DBM - nice neat installation of rectangular blue flashers !!!
They have 2 marked cars, the DBM, and possibly an unmarked white (but this has yet to be positively identified
)
Favourite tricks are to sit in the laybys on the fast stretches, facing traffic in the marked cars ,and going traffic direction in the unmarked.

Were they being filmed by any chance ??
there was a prog on bbc2 tonight 19.30 (yorkshire area), about
bikers speeding (highest speed this year 144.5 mph !). North Yorks
police use the Imprezas to chase them. one V reg DBM and an X reg
silver. The DBM looked to be lowered with a BIG exhaust. Also showed a 4 door in police livery

Not sure. There were no TV cameras obvious but there was a black Golf and possibly a bike in the lay by. Certainly people chatting - hence my original comment.
144 mph - a touch obvious on the public highway - not to say excessive !

Last Sunday week I went from Settle, where there were loads of bikes, up to Ingleton. I've never seen so many bikes on one road. Hundreds in both directions!
The marked Police Impreza was behind me (quite close!), with a load of bikes behind him.
I overtook a slower car in front and he didn't seem to mind much, I was kind of expecting something! Still I wasn't speeding, except maybe a little bit as I overtook
I didn't wave though....

Chris,
the actual speed was 144.7mph in a 60 !!!
the thrust of the prog was bikers speeding and scoobies trying
to catch them. Also trying to persuade bikers to use track days - Cadwell featured. see www.bbc.co.uk/insideout - click
on the YORKSHIRE logo for the story (scoobs dont get much of a
mention !!)

scooby-si,
strangely enough, the A59 between Clitheroe and Gisburn tends to get an awful lot of parked police cars (and tripods!) - especially on Sawley Brow
There's money in them thar hills

Scooby Si.
The Escort Cossie did look the business didn't it!! Live near Skipton where it was originally based. They've replaced it now with the marked Impreza which is still quite impressive.
My mates really disappointed though as he used to service the Cossie a lot at Skipton Ford.
