I've cut a piece from the Xtreme website which you all might find interesting, reference their new 2.3litre!!!!!! Evo conversion. Note the important part.....The price! I think in comparison to the PPP this is real value for money. Consider this is the spec for their EVO7 S performance pack:

Engine: 4 cylinder, turbo charged 1997cc
BHP: 367bhp @ 3,900rpm
Torque: 393ft/lbs @ 5,000rpm
0-60mph: 3.8secs

What do you think this little babe will do!!!!!!

"Xtreme 2.3 litre

Following extensive testing and evaluation the Xtreme Performance 2.3 Stroker Kit is now available for the Evolution V, VI and VII models.

Using our unrivalled Mitsubishi Evolution competition and tuning expertise we have developed a fabulous upgrade that provides outstanding performance and driveability with the minimum compromise in mechanical refinement. In our experience all other types of tuning upgrades fail to achieve this important criterion with conversions providing this level of power.

The kit comprises of a new crank, Billet I beam Connecting Rods and our new design of Competition grade Forged Piston.

A fully programmable Autronic ECU controls engine management. Other modifications including a High Performance Fuel Pump, Sports Air Filter, Competition Gasket Kit and 25% Uprated Clutch. The 2.3 performance package provides 340bhp @ 5437rpm with a whopping 400ft/lb torque @ only 3500rpm.

Such is our confidence in this tuning package it carries a 12 month Warranty and each conversion will be accompanied by a Chassis Dyno report to show the engine power output.

At only £4,845 + vat this competitively priced package should more than satisfy the tuning requirements for the majority of Evolution owners however, for the ultimate enthusiast our Xtreme S, High Output Turbo, Sports Cam Shaft Package will be available shortly."

All looks very tasty till you look at the price including VAT
£5692. That gives a total price for an EVO7 plus the EPP of about 36K. For that money, many people would want an M3/second hand Skyline R34 instead. Did'nt the last EVo extreme have around 400 odd Bhp and cost about the same?

Not saying it won't make a great car superb , but you can't compare a 2K mod to one costing nearly 6 grand.

See your point....but

Evo7 + £5500=32200 400lbs/ft at 3500revs
STi7 + £2400=30300 300lbs/ft at 3700 revs approx

We all know that the Evo is a nice bit of kit, and I have an STi7 UK, but looking at the cost comparison, I think when the PPP comes out and you look at the cost for your power, I think this is real value for money. But don't get me wrong I know PPP will be an improvement on what we already have, although I feel the car is extremely well sorted anyway. But how many of us achieve these sort of figures with all the mods we put on that AREN'T warranted.

Which Evo are you talking about? I'm using the RRP for a UK EVO 7(not RS Sprint version), which is about 30K.

If you're using the import price, then use 23K which is the import price of an STI 7 Type UK. Its naughty to use import prices and then compare against RRP for(the most expensive STI 7) a UK sourced model.

Also STI PPP is 1995 inclusive of VAT, not £2400

So STI type UK with PPP is 25K, EVO 7 Plus EPP is the figure you quoted above.

You seem to be missing the point....

I like Subarus, I have one.

I think the PPP will be good (Its 2400 fitted inc VAT, speak to a dealer or Subaru UK)

I think we'll never achieve the figures above without some serious investment. EVO7 34% lighter unsprung weight (alloys) will cost us another £1500 etc.

I think the only car you can compare a subaru to IS the Evo.

If anybody has those figures on their Scoob and their warranted, and they did it for less than £35k on an STi7. Let me know cos I'll drop the PPP and do what they did.

Adair. Compeletly agree. Just making sure we're comparing the same things.

Personally I found the EVO 7 to be to harsh a ride, a lot more expensive to run and insure, which is why I got an STI-7 instead.

If I had 35K to spend I would spend it on an M3, not an Evo with an EPP. Why?

The M3 would keep it's value longer
The M3 would have a 3yr warranty
The M3 would be cheaper to run.

There must be a market for the EPP, otherwise Ralliart would'nt have done it.

For me, personally the STI7 was a better compromise for what I wanted(Fun drive, with some degree of comfort and practicality) than the Evo. The M3 would have been ideal, but funds would'nt quite stretch to one.

Evo Fans will love the EPP, and it does sound reasonable value. But one needs to look at the alternatives to see what you can get for the same money, and if they suit your needs more.

Great

Oh only one thing though, had an M3 cab' and it was I hate to say this... "boring". I did however toss around with an Alpina once and that was much more like it!! But the real thing is a Brabus SLK which I borrowed from a friend for a month once. 400BHP / 400lbs/ft, 0-60 around 4.2 (all second hand as in the M3). Awesome, and he only paid a mere 38k for it. Of course if we weren't looking in this price and was looking at 2nd hand as in a leeetle bit more than the M3, then mmmmmm I think I'll have a maclaren 620BHP/ton Yummy
