Hello everyone,

Firstly can I say hello to everyone on this forum, as I am a new member I thought I would get that out the way first.

I am in the process of setting up a club that caters for ANY turbo'd petrol car, from a Nissan Starlet (Yes I was shocked as well), up to the monster Scoobys, Cossies and GTIR's that I have noticed on owners clubs sites.

As far as I am aware no club exists that caters for all turbo'd cars, apart from ones like 200+ club, but like most clubs they cater for a specific kind of car.

The UKTOC Aim

This club is not trying to stop or steal members from existing owners clubs, but only to enhance the understanding of that marques to other enthusiast. All too often there is unnecessary bickering at whose car is quickest, handles the best or pulls the most! Although this is fun it does nothing to help the relationship between are common goal and love, cars!

In fact initially it will be used for setting up meetings of various car clubs, like a min Trax.

While we all understand it depends on many factors as to what makes a car great, we are all in the same boat (or car) and we need to pull our resources together to fight for our right to drive on the UK roads unmolested by speed cameras, Police traps and numpty drivers who insist on driving in the fast lane at 40mph.

Organising meets is hard enough but the UKTOC want to organise meets that have a Pot Pouri of automotive gems, imagine a meet where Scoobys can rub shoulders with MG Turbos, GTR's, Cossies and the like, in a friendly environment. Like a petrol station.

So, what do you people think? I am open to any ideas and open to comments from this sites moderators; Is this infringing on your sites terms and conditions?

regards
UKTOC

Question

im confused is it not a Toyota Starlet ? or is that the shock? the toyota starlet turbo is VERY popular here in ireland due to the performance and low insurance, most come in with log books saying they're just 1.3's and are insured as such!!!

Cheers

If it ever got up and running could be an excellent idea. But I suspect a lot of work will be involved to make a go of it. There's a huge wealth of turbo experience spread across all the marques involved out there. Remember, it's not only Subarus which melt pistons and have other problems! Contributors on some of the BBS's demonstrate an impressive depth of knowledge which could apply equally across the marques.

Suggest you research the other "turbo" marques, both current and past and post a similar thread on their sites. For my part, I'm an enthusiast for the Turbo MG saloons of the 1980s. There are plans to turbo-charge some of the current range of MG saloons. Indeed, the Rover 75 is now available with a turbo engine alternative to take advantage of current tax laws. No doubt others will follow suit.
