downpipe and emmisions

Hi all,
Considering getting this done but would like to know if there are any consequences of fitting a downpipe for emmissions? Already have a P1 BB fitted for a slightly improved exhaust note but inevitably want more.....how much would thsi give (car is standard MY00 wagon otherwise)

About 15-20bhp in most cases 
Yes it might not pass the MOT with the DP in place, on the other hand it might. If it doesnt you need to get hold of a sports catted centre section, and/or warm it up before it gets MOT'd. Or find a 'friendly' MOT testing station.
