My work is only 4 miles away and I always read that doing such small trips is not good for the scooby. Therefore I go the long way to and from work which takes it up to 10 miles either way. Is this enough to warm the car completely (havent got an oil temp gauge) or am I wasting my time and petrol for nothing? BTW I also try and stick under 3k rpm also.

Simon.

Simon, my journey is 4 miles to work as well. When done in the car and not on pushbike, the oil temp is almost up to operating temperature by the time I get to work's carpark.

Makes for a boring drive keeping it below 3k rpm, but the exhaust still sounds funky

Journey will normally take me about 10 mins on a good day. When it takes longer it's normally up to operating temp (but nowhere to use it )

So you reckon 5-6 miles would definetely have it running at operating temp?

Yeah trying to sort a decent exhaust now - Blitz Nurspec

Thumbs up

Yep, I think you should be OK by 5-6 miles or 15 mins. I've got my sender above the no.3 piston and it sits at steady temp by about the aforementioned times.

The exhaust will give you some happy tunes

It only takes me about 10 mins to get to work as well. I always keep it below 3k rpms for first 2 miles then under 4k rpms for last few miles. I must admit it is a boring drive though; getting harder and harder to stick under 4k rpms. Got 3,500 miles on the tach now and thinking about becoming one of the start umm and thrash punks

Cheers,
Ray
