High Oil Consumption
Boost? Erm, pass, bog standard MY99 (no Dawes or anything).
Packing it off for testing tomorrow...
Edit to say :
Sparked it up last night and sounded fine (ie all cylinders running). Idled nicely once it was warmed up a bit.

MY99 UK with 59.5k on the clock. Will be getting the 60k service ASAP.
Full de-cat (Scorpian DP, STI Centre, Magnex BB).
Been out blasting round Wales this weekend and it's slurped two litres of oil (Shell Helix 10w40). Dave who was following me on Saturday said I was puffing out a bit of black smoke at times when 'pushing on'. I have hit the limiter a couple of times this weekend when I've been concentrating on the road rather than the dash.
Today we stopped for a while to regroup and I left the Scoob idling away. Within around five minutes, there was a worrying amount of black smoke coming out the zorst. At times I've had a smell of burnt oil. I topped up the oil whilst parked and it puffed again when pulling out of the stop but tailed off a bit en-route to the pub.
Thoughts?
Have kept it below 4000rpm (generally shifting up between 2500 and 3000rpm bar when overtaking) coming home from the pub and will keep the oil topped up until I get it seen to (this week hopefully).
TIA,
Chris.

Chris,
I'd say that more smoke came out when you were lifting off or engine braking than when on the gas. The amount of smoke varied from none, to a noticeable amount (like when it was idling today).

Had the I/C off tonight - a couple of folks have said that if the turbo oil seals are shot, you'll get oil in the I/C.
Car had stood since Sunday evening till tonight before these pictures were taken though...

Does that look healthy?

Look at my hands ! Will be using fairy liquid on them tonight !
I know i/c's have some oil in them, but what is a exceptable level ? The i/c wasn't fripping with oil when we took it off, but some had collected round the seals !

Looks a little more damp than usual & for the amount of oil you are putting back in you would expect the intercooler cores to be well oil stained, What boost are you running ? (as it will push the oil through making it look cleaner) Pity you didn't remove the boost inlet elbow & look at the entry side cores of the intercooler. Compression test i think next to enable a decision to be made.

I had the same trouble! Check your engine compression. In my case, it was a blown piston. Results, overpressure inside the engine block and oil was coming out the oil vapor vents connected to the my P-Flow. If your turbo seals where defective, you are supposed to see oil inside your intercooler when running the engine with no boost. Turbo seals are compressed at high boost, witch means that no oil is supposed to come out the turbo at high boost.
Good luck!
