cutting out at 4500rpm

after fitting a boost gauge my my93 wrx hits a brick wall at 4500rpm and it doesnt matter now fast or slow you rev it or what gear im in i took the gauge of and it still does it,the engine check light is on aswell, i have a few small mods(exaust air fillter dump valve)but it was fine untill today,the only other thing i did today was to de limit it and i havnt put the speedo cable back yet would this cause it?.ive checked all the pipes to make sure i didnt disturb anything but it all looks ok, ive noticed a whirrling noise from the k&n but im not sure if it was there before or im just hearing thing now somthings wrong, any help/advice would be very welcome.many thanks,darren

Daz,

I responded in General - you have a sensor fault somewhere - did you pull a wire out by accident? Or use one of the ECU power supplies when you fitted your Boost Guage.

Your car has gone into SAFE MODE.

cheers ive not wired the gauge up yet but i'll have a look tomorro

thanks for the input ive been told the speedo cable links up with the ecu and as mines not connected its put it in safe mode
