Hi I'm new on here and thinking of chopping in the Saph Cossie for a Scoob. Soz if I am on the wrong board here, but any advice on whether to buy Brit or Jap etc would be useful.

Cheers,

Icy (Rotherham)

I went from a Fiesta RS Turbo to a Series McRAE
I think you will find the import cars more expensive to insure than the UK cars, imports though have the bigger power.
It really depends what model/power/ etc and what money you have to spend

Sti V4/5 best value power scoob at the moment in my opinion.
Buying an import should not be a problem as the parts are easily available.

If you add together euro and grey import cars you will probably find they seriously out number full UK supplied cars Upto 1998 there were serious import restrictions placed on UK, euro and grey imports after that was lifted the flood gates opened . There is a healthy specialist market for tuning/servicing and repairing. Obtaining parts for greys is not as difficult as people make out and they share a lot components with UK spec. If you have a tuned cossie then insurance shoudlnt be a big problem. Drive a UK and import. I owned a UK and drove a grey import and I now own an import .

i went from saph cossie to a my95 jap car, must say the scooby is a much better all rounder in all conditions than the cossie was and much nicer to drive fast.

don't know what state of tune your cossie is but mine was stage 2 (greens n stuff) and was quite fast but i must say after a full de-cat bigger intercooler and induction kit (no ecu mods)the scoob is about the same performance on the road(only a bit quicker up to 60)as my cossie was but the handling of the scooby is far superior IMHO

after 9 months of scooby ownership i haven't regreted selling the cossie one bit
