Question

The Mrs wants a new Mini Cooper. She's spec'd it up and the cost comes out at a wacking £15k!!!

Anyone recommend a second hand Scooby that fits that price thats going to be more fun than a Mini.

I was thinking of a grey import. Which model do i choose? I was thinking along the WRX STI version sort of car.

Which ones the one to go for for £15k?

Cool

Get a new Skoda Octavia RS or a Seat Cupra T thingy instead! Problem with the STI is going to be insurance and other running costs way higher than the Mini.

Don't let her drive it then. Having driven one, there is no car I would rather have (as everyday transport ) for £15k

My wife drove one and ordered it within 5 minutes Her's is going to be best part of £17k as well with the 17" wheels and bodykit But then what is money for if you can't spend and enjoy it

Jza,

If she don't mind waiting then get one from Japan, take about 6-7 weeks to come across.

I've had friends buy from overseas and got very good deals.

You could pick up a UK 99MY, inc A/C, with reasonable miles for 15k ish. Far better than a mini

If you can find an STI5 for £15k then that is an amazing car... Certainly there are plenty of STI4's for around £13k, leaving £2k for the insurance!!
