I'm closing this thread as there is another one of the same ilk with the same title opened by the same user in this same forum.

I WOULD WELCOME A STRAW POLL AS TO EXPERIENCED RELIABILITY OF THE STI, IN PARTICULAR THE ENGINE, WHICH APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR CONCERN

Question

who is concerned?? I've had mine for 18 months now and have never had a problem. The only problem i've had is with a flat battery which locked the immobiliser up for 3 hours in a busy highstreet. My ears haven't stopped bleeding........Not nice.

I have an STI 3 which has now done over 60k with absolutely no problems at all. I did blow a turbo but that was mainly down to tracks days I suspect. If you are really worried about blowing it up, you probably won't be modding it, so you could look at getting an insurance based waranty, but be very careful about which one you choose.

Cheers
Andy
