Is there an easy way to tell if pads are glazed? Im still sure mine are.

They just dont seem to work as well as before

Phil at Barrattes Motorsport de-glazed my DS2000s once and they needed it! The difference was obvious.

From what I can remember, it shows when the end of the pad is slightly curved and shiny (hence glazed) and needs filing back to the rough finish of the pad

Hope this helps, it may be wrong however. I am sure someone will point out if its wrong.

It is quite likely that you have glazed them as the result of breaking heavily before the disks and pads have had chance to warm up.

Take them out and use a fine grade of wet & dry or simular to gently take the glaze off.

You might find they aren't glazed and you just need some new ones.

Does this apply if you have grooved discs? Aren't they supposed to deglaze the pads?

 

I don't think it stops it from happening altogether, it just prevents it.
