Farting noise from filter

Hi everyone,I recently fitted a K+N cone filter to my jap wrx and got a lovely whoosh on acceleration and deceleration,fitted a forge atmospheric dump valve last week and still get the nice whoosh on acceleration but it sounds like a deep fart on deceleration,is this normal after fitting a dv,any advice would be much appretiated.

Seems like it. The sound you hear is most probably from the exhaust.

Dump valve opening on lift off - most people fit them for the fart noise

fitted the same to my 93wrx and get the noise you are talking about i thought it was the excess gas that couldnt push the dv (have piston type)open coming back through the filter and making it vibrate.but then i could be talking *****.

You could be right too But if so, it suggests the spring tension is too high - great through the gear performance, not so good for the turbo.

Its the filter and supposed to make that noise. You'll get used to it! Not sure what it is, but sounds like the filter breathing!

I aksed the same question when I fitted mine as I thought it sounded odd. Incidentally, I took mine off and it drove better, DV too.
