Question

ok, so just recieved my 'genuine sti engine gasket set'.

thing is, the stickers have been peeled off the clear wrappers of the metal head gaskets. are there any stamps/marks that should be on the head gaskets as id?

also, the head gasket set is 'BGA' make, and the bottom end kit is 'Ajusa'.

have i been had here?

if so, he will be wearing the bloody things!

cheers
ian

p.s. i expected these to be wrapped in 'sti' wrappers...?

I suspect that they are P1 gaskets, sourced from the dealer network. The sticker was removed to make them untraceable back to the dealer.

There are thousands of bits on an STi that don't have STi written on them. And as STi don't make head gaskets, these are one of them.

If they are off a P1, and you're building up an early block, I'd check the gasket thickness, otherwise your compression is going to be pretty high.

P1/STi5 are about .6~.7mm, and I suspect you will be needing circa 1.4mm.

Mark.
