Question

Does anyone have any experience of this ?
Is the Aquamist kit any good for a car running about 17.6psi of boost or only for major mods ?

Cheers

1s kit is good enough,

wihtout a remappable ecu it will cost you power, the amount depending on how much water you want to add.

Devils,

for running 17.6 there won't be a huge advantage on the road - in fact probably a small power loss - around 4-10bhp depending on injector size.

HOWEVER - if you are running a standard ECU and do a lot of track days or very heavy running in a high ambient temp (i.e. Cyprus) then it probably is a good idea as there will be much less retardation as the underbonnet/induction/engine temps rise.

Overall I would say spend your money elsewhere unless you plan to raise your boost higher, say 1.3bar or above.

Question

is mappable water injection a cheaper alturnative to a fmic, if you were running, like you said 1.3bar+.

Well, I ran with TMIC and WI for a long time at high boost levels. It enabled me to run very high levels of advance, and use less fuel. Indeed it would seem likely that I could run so much advance that I was beyond MBT, even at 1.4bar.

Nevertheless - finally, under duress, I have added an FMIC for track days - and the car is much stronger above 5,000rpm - even on the road.

With TMIC it was regularly pushing out 345bhp at PE - the WI making the result much less susceptible to atmospheric conditions. Will be doing a power run at PE with FMIC and will let you know the results.

PS I have the mappable system and map in conjunction with the Link ECU
