Hello everybody! Iīve been one happy new owner for the past week, but on start up in the morning I notice what seems to be piston slap. The car has 90000 km and is otherwise in immaculate condition, everything is tight and tidy. The only worrying thing is that on startup there is a slight thunking sound on light throttle from 1200 to 1900 rpm. It disappears in higher rpmīs and after a few minutes when the engine warms up. When the engine is warm, doors are shut and fans are off, I can also hear a clicking sound up to 1500 rpm, but I make this out to be the wastegate solenoid. The sound I am hearing from cold is only slightly audible from the outside and is best heard inside the cabin after slight application of the throttle. When the hood is up, I can tell itīs coming from the engine block somewhere. It is definitely not that sort of piston slap best described as a cold diesel engine, but it is there and I can hear it. My question is: should I do something about it or just let the engine warm up every morning and live with it?

Thanks, but I have already listened to that file a few times when I did numerous searches on the board. My car is not that bad, so the question is whether or not to live with it. Anyone? How do you cope with slight slap?

Best to put up with it as its expensive to sort out, if its slap it will be far worse in winter or a cold morning. Sounds selfish but best to sell it in the summer
