IC Water Spray?

Just a quick question, well two.
How often do you lot use your IC water spray. I have a MY99 STI Type R which has an auto & manual water spray button.
How often does the auto spray work? does it do it by temp or every so often?

An hours "fun" driving can empty the bottle on a warm day in automatic mode, never use manual mode though as theres no need....
Edited to say that I think its temperature and pressure dependant i.e. when the turbo is spooled up and the intake temperature exceeds a certain threshold then it sprays on the i/c
