i went in a mates mate, car yesterday, don't know exactly what he'd done to it. Just know that it gripped and cornered better than my standardish scooby and even a STI 6 i drove. What are these like? Told he spent thousands on mods.

Given enough time, money, inclination, persistance, blood, sweat and tears I am sure you can turn just about any car into a scooby beater. How closely that car resembles the original standard factory car is another matter.

The CRX was quite a small lightweight car with obvious tuning potential so I am not surprised but you can apply the same theory to scoobs and improve performance and handling. Clarkson was right when he said "if you want a very fast modified car start with a fast car in the first place".

I have nothing against modifying cars as mine isnt standard either , good on him though if that what he wants to drive its his choice. Just remember a £10,000 car with £1000 worth of mods is going to be worth more than a £1000 with £10,000 worth of mods .

My first outing up the 1/4mile strip in my standard MY01 was against a CRX.

"No worries here" I thought

As I was changing up to 3rd, he tears past me and wins by a clear car length.

Turns out he had laughing gas injectors
