Default Fuel Pump Assembly for 1994 STI V1

The work begins to get my 1994 version 1 wagon back on the road, and the first major snagging point seems to be sourcing a new fuel pump assembly...

The only thing that seems to come up for the part number: 42021 FA030, are from Japan and then out of stock anyway!
Can I use SA030 or SG030 - which seem to be listed for the Forester. I'm not sure how to work out pressure and flow compatability...

Can anyone point me in the right direction pretty please.

I think it will be ok to use those other part numbers. The part number label is for the complete assembly which will be specific to your car. The part numbers may be different as its for a Forester but the part is physically the same! If it isnt, it may be the same pump which you can swap over with your existing tank insert.

I had to change the pump in my 1999 Forester. I fitted an uprated one from RCM. When putting it together I noticed the new (more powerful) pump was smaller. The kit was listed for 1992-2007 models. That would suggest the pumps are interchangable. If you fit a fuel pump that is more powerful than the one you have it probably wont make that much difference as the fuel pressure at the injectors is managed by the fuel pressure regulator.

delux3 - Thanks, that's reassurring.
I've got an SA030 coming from a breaker, (looks in good condition amd not much money wasted if it doesn't fit).
It has come off a later model Impreza so hopefully should be fine.

The car has been garaged (and not started) for 15 or so years - it's corroded and completely siezed.

Just change the pump the reast should be ok. Just watch you get the three pipe push on type not the one with a clip on feed pipe as in delux3's post

Thanks. That's my next option to consider if I can't get a straight assembly swap.

You'll need to change the pump anyway it's 30 years old.
