It's possible to find a US VIN for an STI produced before 2006, but it depends on the model. Not all versions were equipped with a cable-operated throttle and cruise control as standard.
To accurately determine the vehicle's equipment, you'll need a window sticker by vin free from https://carfast.express/en/window_sticker . It will indicate the equipment or direct you to an inspection.
You can trade-in the car, but keep in mind that installing cruise control requires not only the lever but also wiring for the steering column paddle shifters and sometimes even electronics. Therefore, it's best to buy a car already equipped with all these features.

You're running a LinkECU aren't you? Instead of doing the factory stuff as a retrofit can't you get the ECU to do it?

Need to move for drive by wire for link to do it where i could move to oem dbw parts but im after drive by cable setup ,could add DBC aftermarket cruise for around 1500 quid but think thats a little to much.
Its not must have just will be nice to have it if possible yet

I thought you were on DBW already. But I looked into this for a classic. You can get a weld in plate (not sure of correct term) to allow normal inlet manifold to (cable version) to accept a Bosch DBW throttle. Didn't go into the wiring side but should sync up with the LinkECU. Nowhere near £1500.
