Default Code 24 - ICV - Possible ECU

HI Guys
Been scratching my head over the past few weeks. rather than typing it all out, if you have time please read my thread Turbo 2000. Idle Control Valve Code 24 - Page 2 - ScoobyNet.com - Subaru Enthusiast Forum

however the final update is, everything has basically been changed but cannot hard reset the ECU and not sending signal to ICV, we have most likely come to the conclusion the ECU is fried? I heard this can be repaired? If you put a like for like does it still need to be coded? i would assume it does because of immobiliser? car running standard ECU. GF8 2000 UK wagon.
Based in North west London..

Very hard to remember and not a thing to discuss online. Don would the best man to ask but I'm pretty sure the Sigma was retrofitted to the UK cars and was not part of the ECU as such cause I can remember swapping compatible ECU's about without problems. There is also a very very simple way to bypass the alarm that is so ridiculous someone who designed the system needs a kick up the hole but that doesn't help you.

yes as above 99/00 ecus are interchangeable without any immob/coding issue. so just find one with same code and shove it in

Oh wow, that's a bit of saving there. Okay so if my ECU is kaput, i can simply get another like for like code and put it in.
Who is Don? just to confirm..

This code 24 is really taking a toll on time and peoples heads. its not going! but you cant even do a hard reset on the ECU it just wont reset. which makes us think it is the ECU. before even turning on the ignition the code is back. straight away

From MY98 onwards the Turbo 2000's ECU is coupled to an OEM immobiliser ECU (Sigma alarm immobilisation is totally separate) and the keys use a transponder chip.

If you retain your existing OEM immobiliser ECU and keys, I've no idea if it will work "straight out of the box" or you will need to get them coded/cloned to the "new" ECU.

Most 22611AE802 (Y7) ECUs i've seen advertised, seem to come complete with matching immobiliser ECU and keys or a combination there of.

They're switchable without issue. When I'd my MY99 I was able just to switch out the ecu for a wr-limited ecu

Also, a mod for the my00 cars was to stick an my99 ecu.in it because my00 ecu had more emissions stuff in them so the my99 had a wee bit more performance/timing on them
