Hi,
White older WRC gearboxes now getting quite hard to find, there are still alot of Legacy gearboxes around.
The thing is most are 1.000:1 and WRX uses 1.1:1.
Would switching rear transfer from a WRX work?

The transfer case.
Take for example a TY754VRAAB, it's a 3.9 final drive, but has a 1.000:1 rear drive. A TY754VN1AA has a 3.9 final drive, but 1.1:1.
Would these be usable by switching the rear transfer case?

You would need to change your drop gears.
