Default hike in insurance

Hello,
My insurance quote, just recieved for the coming year has increased nearly 90%. was £740, now £1382. This is with Adrian Flux, the insurers are Markerstudy who have insured my car for the 18 years of ownership without a claim. It is a highly modified car but the only change over last year is I'm a year older.
I understand premiums have gone up but 90% !!
Anyone else experiencing this level of disappointment ?
thanks
Trev

I'm in Birmingham and my renewal was significantly less on the scooby, highly modified too. I'd say give Gary Moulson @Kieth Micheals a call.

Hi.
If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to take another look at your renewal to see why it's gone up by such a large amount.
Regards,
Dan.

Markerstudy are a terrible insurer if you have a claim.....huge delays, and terrible repairs of the cheapest nature. I had to threaten court action with their nominated repairer. They're an A plan favourite, and you get what you pay for

I've found Keith Michaels to be the most competitive. The next nearest quote was nearly £500 more.
I've heard a lot of people complain about the rise in insurance costs.

Thanks, I was expecting an increase but the quote from Adrian Flux, I had questioned it with their office and they remained firm , was a complete deal breaker.
I'll see if Dan@AF gets back to me but will also see what Keith Michaels can do for me.

I've found Adrian Flux to be complete time wasters when I've attempted to get a quote from them, plus Dan from AF offers no advice what so ever on either Subarus or Insurance, despite being a member of this forum community. He's only here to tout for business.

Is £1400 , low milage, no claims , the market price now, this doesn't seem cheap ?
My issue was the 90% increase, prehaps last years premium was cheap.
AF, Aplan, KM, have been the go to for as long as I can remember for modified cars, I'm confused lol

My question is, what is the ball park market price for a 450HP modified Impreza and from who ?

thankyou

I don’t even bother getting a quote from AF. They were very expensive and very pushy when I’ve tried in the past. And despite explicitly telling them not to contact me they still phoned me up just to check if I had got insurance elsewhere. Lost me as a possible customer in the future due to their own actions.

Always have a laugh to myself waiting to see how long it is before Dan responds to any thread remotely mentioning insurance

I’m new to the scooby world but I just had to reinsure mine as I just got some points. 2 weeks ago with no points and driving for over 20 years was around £400 through the meerkat! Went on there with the points and they wanted £700 with a black box or a grand without.
managed to get fully comp with 6 points for £320 after a bit more searching. Criminal!!

wont be going through compare the market again anytime soon! 😂
